Energy Management for Domestic Home Owners
With the strengthening of the Building Regulations for energy efficiency and the European Performance of Buildings Directive now in force, energy efficiency in buildings is becoming increasingly important in the drive to lower carbon emissions.
New buildings must now satisfy detailed energy calculations and new work on existing properties must incorporate significant improvements as to their energy efficiency.
Outsourceten have been involved in the energy management sector for the since 2009 and have since been able to help over 18000 home owners to reduce the annual cost of their utility bills as well as add value to their properties by completing condition surveys on properties to assess whether or not the home owner’s property qualifies for a grant funded by the Utility companies.
What Is Cavity Wall Insulation?
In most houses built after 1924, the external walls are made of two layers with a small air gap or ‘cavity’ between them. If your home has unfilled cavity walls, a considerable portion of your heating bills will be spent warming the air outside.
Filling the gap between the two walls of a house with an insulating material decreases the amount of heat escaping through the walls. Cavity wall insulation is quick, clean and free or inexpensive to install. It is blown into the cavity from the outside, typically taking two or three hours. All cavity wall installations are backed by a 25 year independent guarantee from CIGA, the Cavity Insulation Guarantee Agency.
Loft insulation – what’s it all about?
It’s never been more important to think about insulating your loft. Loft insulation is an effective way to save energy and money at home. A well insulated house keeps warmth exactly where you need it – indoors. So, insulating your loft – or topping up any insulation you have already – will help to heat your home more efficiently. Using less energy reduces carbon dioxide emissions (CO2): one of the biggest causes of climate change. You will also save money on your bills too.
